General Job Information

The Reefer Technician position is a critical role in modern port operations. This role focuses on the handling, monitoring, and maintenance of refrigerated containers used to store and transport goods that require strict temperature control, such as fresh food, frozen products, seafood, fruits, vegetables, and pharmaceutical items.

This vacancy is open to candidates seeking full-time employment in Singapore’s port area under a shift-based work system. Candidates without prior working experience are welcome to apply, as comprehensive training will be provided before commencement of duties.

Employment Type: Full Time

Working Days: 6 days per week

Work System: Shift-based (rotating Day and Night shifts)

Compensation and Benefits

Monthly Salary:

$2,800 – $3,800 per month (depending on experience and performance)

Additional Benefits Include:

Year-end bonus based on individual and company performance

Service bonus of up to $10,000 for employees who meet service length and performance criteria

Role Overview and Key Responsibilities

As a Reefer Technician, you will play a direct role in ensuring that all refrigerated containers within the port area operate safely and efficiently. This position requires attention to detail, discipline, and strict adherence to safety procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

Performing plug-in and plug-out of electrical power cables on refrigerated containers in accordance with standard operating procedures

Ensuring a stable and safe electrical power supply to refrigerated containers

Conducting regular temperature checks based on scheduled inspections

Recording and updating temperature data and container conditions using Android tablets

Identifying potential technical issues, abnormal temperature readings, or equipment faults

Reporting findings and issues to supervisors or relevant technical teams

Coordinating with field teams and control centers using VHF radio communication

Carrying out duties in compliance with port safety standards and company regulations

Maintaining cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in the work area

Actively collaborating with team members within a shift-based working environment

Training and Development

The company provides structured training programs for new employees, particularly those without prior experience, which include:

Introduction to port operations and work systems

Fundamentals of refrigerated container operations

Workplace safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment

Use of Android tablets for data recording and reporting

Work communication protocols using VHF radio

Training is conducted in stages until employees are assessed as competent to work independently.

Candidate Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Willing to work rotating day and night shifts

Possess a valid Singapore Class 3 (manual) driving license

Able to communicate in basic English for work-related purposes

Basic proficiency in using digital devices such as tablets

Physically and mentally fit, capable of working outdoors

Prepared to work in a port environment with long working hours

Disciplined, responsible, and willing to learn

Able to work independently as well as part of a team

Working Hours

Day Shift:

07:30 AM – 07:30 PM (meal break included)

Night Shift:

07:30 PM – 07:30 AM (meal break included)

Shift schedules are assigned on a rotating basis according to operational requirements.
