ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking responsible, communicative, and service-oriented individuals to join us as a Part-Time Retail Assistant in the Bedding & Linen Department at TANGS Orchard.

TANGS Orchard is one of Singapore’s leading premium department stores, known for its high service standards and quality products. The bedding and linen department serves customers looking for premium home and living products, and therefore requires staff who are able to provide informative and professional service.

JOB INFORMATION

Position: Part-Time Retail Assistant

Department: Bedding and Linen

Work Location: TANGS Orchard (Tang Plaza)

Employment Type: Part-Time / Contract

Start Date: Immediate

Salary: SGD 12.09 per hour (fixed basic rate)

Payment will be calculated based on actual hours worked according to the agreed schedule and operational needs of the store.

WORK COMMITMENT AND SCHEDULE

Selected candidates must fulfill the following work commitment:

Minimum 2 working days per week

Must include:

1 weekday (Monday to Friday)

1 weekend day (Saturday or Sunday)

Store Operating Hours:

Monday to Saturday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Sunday: 11:30 AM – 8:30 PM

Each shift includes two break periods, with each break lasting 45 minutes.

Candidates are expected to have schedule flexibility, especially on weekends, public holidays, and during promotional or peak seasons.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Retail Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring that customers have a comfortable, informative, and efficient shopping experience. Your responsibilities go beyond sales and include consultative service and maintaining the sales area.

Key responsibilities include:

Customer Service

Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner

Identify customers’ needs related to bedding and linen products

Provide detailed explanations about product materials (such as cotton, satin, microfiber), bed sizes (single, queen, king), and product features

Advise customers on proper care and washing instructions to maintain product quality

Recommend additional relevant products based on customer needs

Sales and Transactions

Operate the cashier system according to company procedures

Process payments accurately and efficiently

Handle both cash and cashless transactions

Ensure transactions are properly recorded

Safeguard cash and transaction documents

Product Arrangement and Visual Merchandising

Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the sales area at all times

Arrange products according to store display standards

Ensure price tags are correctly displayed

Reorganize displays according to supervisor or merchandising team instructions

Ensure products are well-stocked and easily accessible to customers

Stock Management and Inventory

Regularly check product availability

Replenish stock from the storeroom or trolley to display shelves

Assist in stock-taking exercises when required

Perform light physical tasks such as bending to arrange products on lower shelves

Ensure stock is neatly arranged according to size and product category

Teamwork and Sales Targets

Work closely with team members to achieve departmental sales targets

Participate in daily briefings

Support colleagues during peak hours

Maintain good communication with supervisors and team members

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

General Qualifications:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Friendly, polite, and confident when serving customers

Able to work in a fast-paced retail environment

Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions

Willing to work flexible hours

Able to work independently and as part of a team

Responsible and possess a strong work ethic

Physical Requirements:

Able to stand for extended periods

Able to perform light physical tasks consistently

Able to bend and replenish stock from shelves or trolleys

Previous experience in retail or customer service is an advantage but not mandatory, as long as the candidate demonstrates a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

DRESS CODE

To maintain professionalism and the standards of a premium department store, all staff are required to wear:

Black long-sleeve shirt

Black long pants

Black closed-toe shoes

Appearance must be neat, clean, and professional during working hours.
